Description
Lecture and discussions. Biological Version (104A) Chemistry of organic and biochemical systems, chemical energetics and equilibrium, chemical kinetics, and reaction mechanisms. Physical Version (104C): Chemistry of materials, including organic and biological substances, chemical energetics and equilibrium, chemical kinetics, and solids and crystals.
Credits
(3 hours) Students may not receive credit for both CHEM 104 and 204.
Computer Usage
Students will do some homework assignments using Ion-capa (sections A/B) and WebCT (section C). The Chemistry Learning Center, 212 Chem Annex has computers and other materials for student use. TAs are available here at specific times for consultation.
Course Prerequisites
CHEM 102 or 202 or advanced placement credit for one semester of college-level chemistry.
All students enrolled in CHEM 104 should also enroll in CHEM 105.
